A Real Speak Easy

Here at the Brumder Mansion we love murder-mystery plays. In fact we love them so much that we use the underground ballroom George Brumder built a hundred years ago to stage our very own original interactive productions today – and they’ve become very popular with Milwaukee audiences.

What you may not know is that our theater was converted into a real Speakeasy during prohibition by the notorious gangster Sam Pick – an associate of Al Capone’s who was the Brumder Mansion’s second owner. Sam Pick has come and gone and these days the entertainment is strictly above-board, but if you have a taste for old-fashioned good-guys and bad-guys, gumshoes and gun molls and classic detectives, come to the Brumder. We’ve staged half a dozen original plays so far – the first one was called “Speak Easy of Murder”, appropriately enough – and we have produced many more and more entertainment is on tap.
